Recipe: Fruit Kabobs

If you’re looking for a snack that’s fun, colourful, healthy and a kid friendly recipe, look no further than fruit kabobs! These delightful little treats are perfect for little hands, and making them is half the fun! Callum had an absolute blast assembling these fruity masterpieces. Let’s dive into the fruity madness!

Step 1: Gather the Essentials

First things first, gather your kids and supplies

● Wooden Skewers
● Strawberries
● Pineapple
● Banana
● Watermelon
● Kiwi
● Basically any fruit you can get your hands on

Step 2: Prep the Fruit

Time to transform your kitchen into a mini fruit factory. Wash your fruits thoroughly – we don’t want any sneaky dirt ruining our fruity fun. Then, cut the fruits into bite-sized pieces. Here’s where things get interesting. Unless you want fruit chunks flying across the kitchen like it’s a fruity food fight, keep a close eye on the kiddos. Last time, Callum almost catapulted a pineapple chunk into the neighbour’s garden!

Step 3: Skewer the Fruit

Now for the fun part: skewering the fruit! Let the kids slide the fruit onto the skewers in any order they like. Callum, being the little Picasso he is, went for a “fruit explosion” look – think random, chaotic, but absolutely delicious. Watching him concentrate so hard on his creation was hilarious and heart warming. It’s like edible art, and the best part? No right or wrong way to do it!

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

Now that you’ve got your fruit kabobs ready, it’s time to serve them up with a side of yogurt for dipping. Watching Callum proudly munch on his fruity creation was the sweetest reward. Not to mention, the cleanup was minimal—just a quick sweep for any rogue fruit pieces (looking at you, flying banana chunk) and you’re done. Win-win!

So, there you have it – a fun, easy, and healthy snack that doubles as a craft project. Perfect for a sunny afternoon or even a rainy day indoors. Plus, it’s a great way to get the kids to eat more fruit without even realizing it. Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself joining in on the fun. Because let’s be honest, who can resist a rainbow on a stick? Happy skewering!
