S2 Martial Arts Dominates Fight Night

Last night, S2 Martial Arts, owned and operated by brothers Tommy and Frankie, delivered an unforgettable evening of combat sports at the Casino Rooms in Rochester. With three fighters representing the gym, the team achieved a clean sweep of victories, leaving the crowd buzzing and the atmosphere electric. As someone who attended their first-ever fight night, I can confidently say I was blown away—not just by the action in the ring but by the sheer dedication and passion displayed by everyone involved.

Here’s how the night unfolded

Dan Madden’s Explosive Knockout

The opening bout saw Dan Madden step into the boxing ring and dominate his opponent. In a display of power and precision, Dan delivered a knockout blow in the second round, sending the crowd into a frenzy. His performance set the tone for the evening, proving that S2 fighters come prepared to bring the heat.

Alfie Steen’s Unanimous Victory

Next up was Alfie Steen, a kickboxer who also happens to be one of my son Connor’s trainers. Alfie went the full five rounds, showcasing incredible stamina, skill, and determination. His unanimous decision victory was a masterclass in technique, leaving no doubt about his dominance in the ring. Alfie didn’t just win; he completely overwhelmed his opponent, demonstrating why he’s a role model for fighters at S2.

Saul Sharp’s TKO Triumph

Closing the night was Saul Sharp, who delivered a relentless performance that left his opponent’s coach with no choice but to throw in the towel. Saul’s sheer power and unyielding aggression were on full display as he secured the third victory of the evening for Team S2. The crowd roared with approval as Saul was lifted into the air, capping off a perfect night for the gym.

The Atmosphere

The energy in the venue was electric. Every punch, kick, and roar of the crowd fuelled the fighters and spectators alike. As someone who’s admittedly “just a fat old music guy,” I found myself completely immersed in the night. The dedication of these fighters is awe-inspiring, and it’s no surprise that the results speak volumes about the hard work they’ve put in.

For me, the highlight wasn’t just the victories—it was the way my son Connor, who trains at S2, lit up with excitement and determination. He’s now more motivated than ever to step into the ring himself. As a proud dad, I’ll be creating a custom track for him to walk out to when the day comes. Seeing him this inspired and focused is priceless, and it’s all thanks to the incredible team at S2.

Shoutout to the Team and the Ring Girl

Tommy, Frankie, and their fighters—Dan, Alfie, and Saul—have more than earned their respect. Their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship are a credit to the gym. A cheeky little mention to the ring girl as well, who definitely caught my eye (and my camera, when my son wasn’t blocking the view!). The whole night was a sensory overload, and even without touching a drop of alcohol, I felt drunk on the atmosphere.
